Proposal genre research table and task allocation

 

As a group we have decided to go with the puzzle idea that I presented. The reasons behind this was that it was easy to film as it only needed one on screen characters at all times. The setting is within a student room in a school, where a student which is the character. 

Outline of Purpose or Concept
One of the outlines of the product is to have a running time between 5 to 10 minutes, this is because it is a short film, which means it cannot take more than almost 30 mins to consume. We would also have to show clear conventions of a short film within our product as it's purpose is to participate within a short film festival. 

Target Audience
One of the main aspects of target audiences will be the age range, for our product we will be targeting those of ages 16 to 24. Since our product represents a student in a school but also portrays themes of thriller and horror, which may not be appropriate for children or youngsters.
My product will be distributed digitally potentially through social medias to spread the awareness of users on our product. It will be uploaded on YouTube but it will be encouraged in different ways to be also posted through Insta and Twitter. My produce will not have a specific target on gender as this is a genre of thriller and mystery. However it does aim at those who take a liking to the genre of thriller and mystery.

Genre and Theme
The genre and themes that this short film will include will be, Mystery and Thriller.

Setting and Locations
The setting will be done indoor completely, mainly within a room within the school, possibly one free in the media area. There will be 2 main points of location a corridor and a room that is next to that corridor as this will help link visuals. There will be 3 main roles within the production phase. Director, actor and cameraman.

Personnel and Job Roles
The first role is an actor, there will be one main on screen person seen through the visuals. The second role is a the camera operator, this will be the person behind the camera operating it as it records, shooting different shots and scenes. The third role is director this personnel will be in charge of the actor and will be informing them of their lines and what they have to do per shot as well as the camera operator of how they are meant to take the shot.
Legal and Ethical Issues
Intellectual property refers to things that are made and, or owned by an individual. An example could be the face or identity of someone. If a person who was not requested or permitted to be taken in the shot, ends up within it, this could cause issues if that individual did not give permission for it or does not want to be in it. This could cause various issues such as delays as wee would have to reshoot but also issues with our team as they could turn to legal methods. This would also be considered to be unethical as even if unintentional, we have used someone's face or property without ever requesting them for it.
Story
The story goes as an individual wonders around school, they pull out their phone and start heading a corridor way. It can be seen that they are texting their friend to meet outside of the school. As the student starts to rush walk they notice a room open with a clear classroom, as they walk past a bell rings from within the classroom. They look back and look into the room. The room is completely empty however the camera shot will make the scene look as though its building suspense as if something is about to happen or that something is there. The student enters the classroom only to see a bell on the teachers desk with a notepad next to it saying "Ring the bell". The student proceeds to ring the bell, and as soon as they do the door shuts on its own. As it shuts the student looks and as they are about to walk to open it the lights flicker on and off, within a second as they look at the lights, the bell rings again. The note has changed its wordings. At this point the note, tells the student to talk to the note on a table in front of them. They walk to that note and see that the note says something. As they are about to read the bell rings again, the student looks back at the teacher's table and sees that the bell and note is gone. They read out the note, with it saying "solve the puzzles in time or the beast will come to hinder your escape". The student laughs and smiles in disbelief, they take a picure of it on their phne and sends it to their friend texting " Look at this lol". As this happens a figure appears in front of them while they are texting on their phone. But vanishes out when the lights flicker back on. When the user looks to the corner they see a table with a chess board. The chessboard has  a bell that rings, until the student went over to it. They read the note telling them to play a game. They played a piece and instantly the bell rings, with the opposite piece randomly appearing into another position. The visual then has a time lapse of the student playing with constant fades into the same angle but with different ways of the character playing the game. Eventually the visual fades out and back in with the student asleep in front of the board. They eventually slowly wake up, checking the time on their phone. As they are checking their phone a mysterious hand appears slowly into the visual from their shoulder side, and the character instantly looks towards there. The suspense is built here with no music but constant shakiness of the camera as if the audience and viewers are experiencing it themselves. The character looks but sees no one there except for a chair facing towards them. Then the character waves to see if anything was there but felt nothing. They then feel their shoulder and walk back towards the door when the camera pans the to face them and sees that the character is behind them. The character instantly sees the figure and began to run to the door struggling to open it. Eventually they open it and the student can be seen running out of the room. The camera then falls back on the figure inside. Who stands there and checks there watch having the camera pan towards them. They then take off their mask only to be revealed that the figure is the student.
